On 21st December 1910, Pretoria Pit, and it's hard-working mining community, faced the 3rd largest mining disaster ever to hit the UK.

On this tragic day, 344 men and boys descended into the dark, unaware that a sudden roof collapse and the resulting explosion would soon take every single one of their lives.

Pretoria Pit serves as a stark reminder of the true dangers of the pits and the unwavering bravery of the miners, this is why we are committed to donating a portion of profits from all sales of this flannel to Lancashire Mining Museum to ensure this story and many more can be told for generations to come.
